A Mother’s Education Spring
Spring is a season of renewal, of budding trees, stretching roots, and the quiet stirring of life after the long winter months. And, dear mother, it’s also a season of renewal for you.
We spend so much time pouring into our children, guiding their education, setting out living books, rich ideas, and beautiful truths. But what about our own minds, our own souls? Charlotte Mason tells us that children are born persons, but honestly, friend, we are persons too. Our education is not something to be set aside once we’ve grown, but something to be nurtured throughout our lives.
This is why I wrote A Mother’s Education: Spring (AME Spring) comes in. It’s not a curriculum in the way we think of for our children. It’s an invitation. An invitation to read, reflect, and reclaim the beauty of a living education for yourself.
What is AME Spring?
AME Spring is a Charlotte Mason-inspired program designed specifically for mothers. For you, the one guiding the feast, the one tending to hearts and minds. It is a gentle but rich way to give yourself a living education, to step into the same life of learning we so readily offer our children.
Each season, we explore ideas that nourish our minds and spirits. In AME Spring, we turn our hearts toward:
Literature – Because stories shape us just as they shape our children. We read thoughtfully chosen selections that spark ideas and invite discussion. We’ll also have community Zoom meetings to gather, share insights, and deepen our conversations together.
Nature Study – Not just something we facilitate for our kids, but something that awakens our sense of wonder, our attentiveness to the world.
Artist Study – This spring, we’ll be studying the work of Mary Cassatt, the American Impressionist known for her tender and intimate portrayals of motherhood. Her paintings remind us of the beauty in the ordinary moments, the way a mother cradles her child, the soft light of a quiet afternoon.
Handicrafts & Creativity – Because working with our hands cultivates patience, beauty, and restfulness.
Poetry & Thoughtful Reading – To slow us down, to invite contemplation, to remind us that truth, goodness, and beauty are meant for us too.
A Community of Learning
One of the most beautiful aspects of this program is that you won’t be doing it alone. Alongside our Zoom gatherings, we’ll have a discussion board where we can share reflections, ask questions, and encourage one another. It’s a space where ideas can take root, where we can engage in meaningful conversation with other mothers who are also seeking a living education.
Why Does This Matter?
Because, dear mother, you are not just the facilitator of an education: you are also a student of life.
When we take time to cultivate our own minds, we show our children that learning never ends. When we pause to delight in a poem, study a painting, or work with our hands, we invite peace and purpose into our daily lives.
AME Spring is not another task for your to-do list. It is a gift, to yourself, to your family, to the quiet corners of your mind that long for something deeper.
