Julia and the Shark Book Celebration
Literature guides are wonderful. I’ve used and written several for our homeschool. They can also feel overwhelming when you have a solid booklist of things you are reading with your children. It’s also enjoyable to add in extra reading from time to time.
These simple literature guides are not meant to be a full language arts curriculum. Little World Wanderers Book Celebration guides are a simple way to celebrate finishing a new read-aloud with an afternoon of crafts, recipes, and meaningful discussions. To make things simpler and more streamlined for you, we have opted to reduce the noise and bring it back to basics. Sometimes less really is more.
What is included:
-Discussion Questions
-One recipe
-One Craft
-Once science experiment
Each guide is meant to be to be used in a single afternoon as a way to wrap up and celebrate completing a book.
"Julia and the Shark" is a wonderful book that follows a young girl named Julia who moves with her family to a remote island where her father is working on a lighthouse. Julia's mother, a marine biologist, becomes obsessed with finding a rare Greenland shark. As her mother’s obsession grows, the family dynamics begin to strain, and Julia finds solace and connection in the natural world around her. The novel beautifully explores themes of mental health, family relationships, and the awe-inspiring power of nature through Julia’s eyes.
This book is most appropriate for grades 5-8.
