Little Wanderers Preschool: A Charlotte Mason Preschool Curriculum for Ages 3-5
Welcome to Little Wanderers, a preschool program that centers on multicultural books, engaging play, and gentle learning.
We believe that every child is unique in their desire to learn. Children are born with a natural curiosity to know and understand the world. We know that the foundation you lay when your children are young impacts them and their future education.
We believe that from a young age, children should be intentionally exposed to books featuring people from a variety of cultures, abilities, and backgrounds. We know that children know and see differences in themselves and others. It is the responsibility of parents and caregivers to foster positive connections between people. We understand that giving our children a beautiful education filled with books about all types of people will create kinder, more compassionate humans.
The book lists for this program are intentionally curated to feature multicultural, diverse, and differently-abled characters. Our hope is that bringing a diverse booklist into your home will help spark positive conversations with your children. There are 36 main books for this program with other books added in. We recommend books be borrowed from the library, but you can certainly purchase your favorites!
Each week your child will work through 4 days of activities, nature study, geography, habit training, fairy tales/fables/poetry, and cores.
Our preschool program is meant to be a literacy based program, sprinkled with play and intentional time together. In the early years, children should spend more time in connection with their families, playing, and exploring instead of sitting down to work. We also know that there are very motivated learners out there who may want the time to learn, especially with their older siblings. This preschool program is meant to be less than an hour a day, with the majority of time spent learning through play.
We've intentionally structured this program to run on a 4 day a week schedule to allow time and space for flexibility within your day. You'll notice that every activity is not done every day, which allows families to plan schedules the way they need. Sometimes the activities won't feel like school and that is ok after all...
